Atlas Twp.-Long time township trustee Scott Statson resigned earlier this month.
‘I have had the honor of representing the residents of Atlas Township for several years,? said Statson from his office in Orange County, California.
Statson was reelected to his third term as township trustee in 2008, winning the primary election in August on the Republican ticket. He ran unopposed in November. In addition to more than 10 years as a trustee, Statson, 42, served eight years on the township planning commission. He was absent from the Jan. 24 board of trustees meeting.
‘I have truly enjoyed my time and am honored to have served my community in this capacity. I have accepted a position with a national executive search firm based in southern California. I originally had the opportunity to live in Atlas Township and travel extensively, but due to being promoted quickly at the firm I now have to reside in southern California.?
‘I have nothing but great things to say about Atlas Township, the board, the community, the people. I am appreciative of the opportunity to represent the community by serving on the Atlas Township Board and Atlas Township Planning Commission. I believe Atlas Township is a great place to live and will continue positive growth.?
Township Supervisor Shirley Kautman-Jones said Statson’s resignation will be discussed at the Feb. 21 board of trustees meeting.
If accepted, the board has 45 days to appoint a trustee.
