Stolen magnetic signs prompt warning

Brandon Twp.- The theft of some magnetic vehicle signs has police warning residents to be wary of criminals posing as building department officials.
The signs, one stolen a few weeks ago and another stolen Feb. 29, were rectangular ones that are blue on white and say ‘Brandon Township Department of Building and Zoning Inspections.?
Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Detective Chris Pacholski urges residents to verify the identity of anyone who comes to their door and to watch out for their neighbors. Last year, a person convicted of home invasions had been using similar magnetic door signs from Comcast in an attempt to blend in or not be noticed as he committed the crimes.
The building department has ordered new magnetic signs that are round. Building Director Tim Palulian says the only vehicle the building department signs should be on is a white 2001 Chevy S-10 pick-up truck with a municipal plate. If the signs are seen on a different vehicle, notify police at 248-627-4911.
