A Lake Orion High School student was arraigned last week on a two count warrant that included a second-degree murder charge.
17-year-old Daniel Mark Chase was picked up from school last Tuesday and given a $500,000, 10-percent bond with other conditions.
The charges of second-degree murder and operating while intoxicated stem from a crash on M-24, north of Brown Road, that occurred on Dec. 16.
A 24-year-old Oxford resident was pronounced dead on the scene.
Lt. Bruce Naile, of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department, Orion Substation, said computer programs were used to determine how the accident occurred.
He said the scene of the accident was so bad that it was impossible to identify which vehicles, if any, were travelling in the wrong direction.
Their investigation concluded that Chase was the responsible party in the three-vehicle crash.
He sustained serious injuries, while the driver of the third vehicle, an Oakland Township man, was not injured.
