Sun Rise Assisted Living, in conjunction with Clarkston Medical Center, is holding ‘Salute to Safety? from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on June 4 at the center’s campus. The fund-raiser is being held to support the Clarkston Philanthropic Endeavor’s AED (automated external defibrillators) program.
The day will include numerous fun and exciting activities centered around safety services and tips. In addition, there will be a dunking booth featuring local celebrities and officials, games and food.
‘We will have a few of the activities being charged for and participants will have to purchase their own food,? explained Linda Ponce, director of community relations for Sun Rise Assisted Living. ‘All profits raised from those activities and from the food will go to the AED program.?
The Clarkston Philanthropic Endeavor, in cooperation with the American Heart Association, is a non-profit organization whose goal with the AED program is to make the units ‘as common as fire extinguishers.? AED units are used to assist victims of sudden cardiac arrest.
‘This is a wonderful cause,? said Ponce. ‘This is what we were looking for. This money is going to be spent in the community. These are going to be put in the downtown and around the area locally. This will serve our residents here, not somewhere else.?
Planning is still underway for ‘Salute to Safety.? For more information on the fund-raiser, please contact Ponce at 248-625-0739. For more information on the Clarkston Philanthropic Endeavor’s AED program, please go online to www.clarkstonaed.org.
