Suspect arraigned in series of area home invasions

Three suspects will soon be facing charges in several area home invasions.
Alan Jay Pratt, Jr. 22, of Oxford, was arraigned March 16 in 52-3 District Court on one count of receiving and concealing stolen property, a 5-year felony. The charge stemmed from a home invasion that occurred in January in Brandon Township.
According to Oakland County Sheriff’s Office police reports, a Brandon deputy responded to the 1600 block of Connell Road on Jan. 10 for a breaking and entering report. The complainant said while he was out having breakfast, someone kicked in the access door to his garage. Missing from the home was a laptop computer, several thousand dollars worth of jewelry, and $100 in quarters. A neighbor reported seeing a red pick-up truck in the area at the time of the theft, which had three men inside.
The complainant suspected a family member who has stolen from him previously and who has a drug problem. A subsequent investigation found that Pratt had pawned the jewelry, which was identified as the missing pieces. The money was used to buy drugs.
Pratt was arraigned on March 18 on three more charges from home invasion incidents that occurred in Oxford Township earlier this month.
Two additional suspects in the Brandon and Oxford home invasions have charges pending.
