Swimmers lose to Ferndale.

The Lady Cat swimmers were out swam by the Ferndale 85-100 at the Oct. 14 dual meet.
‘We were missing Bella Giannola during this meet due to illness and we lost a couple of close races, but I’m not sure that would have been enough to overtake Stoney Creek,? explained Head Coach Jackie Rank. ‘The league meet will be interesting, for sure.?
Oxford will host the OAA Blue Division league meet on Nov. 4-6.
200 Medley Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of Alexander, McClenaghan, Commons, and Boydston took first with a time of 2:09.49. Oxford’s B relay of Hamilton, Baker, Vican, and Schonfeld finished third. 200 Freestyle: Freshman Claire Alexander came in second with a time of 2:13.97. Danielle Kemp took fourth for Oxford. 200 individual Medley: Sophomore Rachel Commons finished in second with a time of 2:38.13. Emily Vican came in fourth.
50 Freestyle: Junior Christina Boydston finished third for Oxford with a time of 28.58. Hannah Schonfeld and Emily Sovis rounded out the top five. Diving: Freshman Keira
Veltigian set a new personal record, moved up to second on the All-Time Top Ten list, and took first with a score of 203.35. Jenna Zeiter came in second for Oxford. 100 Butterfly: Junior Captain Danielle Kemp came in second with a time of 1:13.40. Rachel Commons and Emily Sovis took third and fifth place respectively. 100 Freestyle: Christina Boydston finished third with a time of 1:03.82. Kayla Krebs and Victoria McClenaghan rounded out the top five. 500 Freestyle: Claire Alexander finished first with a season-best time of 5:57.04. Marisa Bourn came in fifth for Oxford.
200 Freestyle Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of McClenaghan, Kemp, Vican, and Schonfeld finished second with a time 1:59.29. Oxford’s B Relay of 2:05.90. 100 Backstroke: sophomore Emily Vican finished second with a time of 1:15.29. Paisley Arent took fifth place. 100 Breaststroke: Sophomore Victoria McClenaghan came in first with a time of 1:22.82. Rachael Baker took second for Oxford. 400 Freestyle Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of Boydston, Kemp, Alexander, and Commons finished second with a time of 4:15.75.
The girls will travel to Troy Athens on Oct. 28 to swim against the Trojans.
