Backed by a long history of trust, personal service and responsible corporate citizenship, T&C Federal Credit Union is a true asset to the communities it serves, the number of which are growing every year.
Last year, T&C Federal Credit Union opened three new branches in Oxford, Clarkston and most recently, Ortonville.
The 2,000-square-foot Ortonville branch made its debut Dec. 20, 2005 at 250 N. Ortonville Road, Suite B (inside the same shopping center as Bueche’s Food World), and features a drive-up ATM in the parking lot.
Lonnie Bone, Vice President of Marketing, explained that Ortonville is a ‘growing community? with a large number of T&C Federal Credit Union members.
‘I think we’re a good fit for that area,? Bone said. ‘We really try to be a hometown financial institution and support our community.?
T&C Federal Credit Union is a sponsor of Ortonville’s Creek Fest in June and Septemberfest, along with a number of local Chamber of Commerce activities and events.
‘We’re a good corporate citizen,? Bone said.
In April, T&C Federal plans to open a 3,200-square-foot freestanding and full service branch in Rochester Hills at 55 W. Avon Road. It will feature drive-throughs, drive-up ATM machines and an inhouse financial planner. After that, Bone said T&C Federal is looking to open a branch in Wixom in early spring 2007.
A lot is happening for the credit union that was originally founded in 1936 in Pontiac to exclusively serve the employees of General Motors Truck and Coach.
Over the years, T&C Federal has grown by leaps and bounds until finally, in February 2002 the Bloomfield Hills-based financial institution changed to a community charter and now serves the general public in Oakland County.
Today, the financial institution has accumulated more than $550 million in assets and has earned the trust of more than 63,000 members. ‘Virtually anyone who resides, worships, works or goes to school in Oakland County can now join T&C Federal Credit Union,? Bone said
T&C Federal Credit Union offers a full range of services including mortgages, savings and checking accounts, IRAs, financial planning, loans of all types and complete electronic banking including paying bills and banking from home ? something the financial institution is particularly progressive about.
‘Our goal is anything you can do at one of our branches, you can also do on-line from your home or work computer,? Bone said. ‘You can literally join the credit union over the Internet. You don’t even have to come into one of our offices.?
Even loans can be done on-line with T&C Federal Credit Union. The only thing the customer has to do is pick what type of loan they need.
Loans can be taken out for mortgages, home improvements, automobiles, recreational vehicles, boats, airplanes, construction, vacation properties, investment properties and small businesses. ‘Mortgages can be taken out with as little as zero percent down,? Bone noted.
Joining T&C Federal Credit Union gives members access to more than 25,000 no-surcharge ATMs nationwide (all 7-11 stores are now part of the network now) ? 2,500 of which are in Michigan. ‘It’s the largest ATM network in the United States,? Bone said.
In January 2005, T&C Federal Credit Union opened a brand new free-standing 7,000-square-foot branch at Deer Lake Road and Dixie Highway in Clarkston complete wth drive-through tellers and drive-up ATM.
Last year Oxford, T&C Federal Credit Union opened a 3,200-square-foot, full service branch at 168 S. Washington St. inside the Oxford Marketplace shopping center with a drive-up ATM in the parking lot.
When asked what separates T&C Federal Credit Union from other financial institutions, Bone replied, ‘Personal service. That personal touch.?
‘We always try to do what’s in our members? best interests,? he said. ‘We take a personal interest in our members? lives and always try to get to know them on a first name basis.?
Bone is also proud that T&C Federal Credit Union is a ‘good corporate citizen? that gets involved in the communities it serves. In Oxford, the credit union has sponsored Celebrate Oxford, Groundhog Daze, Concerts in Centennial Park, Women’s Expo, Crossroads for Youth and OHS Senior All Night Party.
In Clarkston, T&C Federal has supported the Taste of Clarkston, CHS Senior Party, Concerts in the Park, and the Clarkston Business Expo. In Orion, the institution’s been involved in Barn Days, Snowflake Ball for the Orion Art Center, LOHS Senior Party and the Boys & Girls Club.
In every community, T&C Federal has been a highly active and supportive member of the local Chamber of Commerce participating in everything from regular meetings to mixers to special events.
‘You’re going to see even more of us,? Bone said.
