Thanks to many, Ortonville Relay For Life proved successful

Dear Editor,
On June 13, we and many others participated in Relay For Life that took place in Ortonville. Our team, ‘The Variety Club,? walked to support our friends and family who are battling cancer. We were very successful in our fundraising and thank those who contributed. First, thank you, American Cancer Society, for putting forth such a wonderful event that not only helps with the fight against cancer, but positively brings a community together.
Thanks also to the community for turning up in droves to our community garage sale. It was a huge success and people were very eager to help with our cause. We thank Stepping Stone Day Care for allowing use of their driveway for a carwash. It turned out to be a great day that again allowed us to see how generous our community is. Thanks to Paige Keating and her BFF Diane, our ‘art director? for transforming our tent for the Relay event into a whimsical ‘variety store? that helped us sell our snow cones, candy and toys and contribute even more money to the American Cancer Society. We, as a team, thank friends and family that sponsored us and helped catapult our team contribution to the American Cancer Society to a number that exceeded our wildest expectations.
Lastly, we thank our loved ones and friends that live with cancer daily, who continue to fight to beat this awful disease. We thank them for their courage and perseverance that motivated us to make our walk for the cure a memorable and successful event.
