The Low-down on Downtown

Workers will conclude their breakup of the south side of E. Flint Street today, April 20, and will return to the downtown area where cement will be poured. On Thursday, workers will close the intersection of Flint and Broadway. The closure will open occasionally, but remain mostly closed for about six weeks. Detour routes will be made available. On street parking will be made available roughly 5 days after recently poured cement has dried.

Starting Wednesday, April 13 and continuing to Friday, workers in the downtown area will begin removing curbs and gutters. They will start on W. Flint Street at M-24 and move east along Flint.
Laborers will also work in Children’s Park, removing fencing and starting the Cut & Grade and removal of boulders and other material.
Street closures have yet to be determined, but detours will be available.

On Wednesday, workers will install water rerouting equipment at the intersection of Broadway and Front streets. The intersection will be closed, as will Broadway from Front Street to Flint. Front Street open from Anderson to Broadway. Parking along Broadway will be closed from Front Street to Flint. Construction continues on Thursday and Friday, with workers moving north on Broadway installing the same water rerouting systems. The next anticipated work area is Broadway, north of Front Street to Flint. Street closures remain the same.

This Thursday and Friday. Workers continue installing lateral storm sewer pipes on E. Flint Street, moving one block east, working from Slater to Washington. This will require a complete road closure from just east of the intersection of Slater, east to Washington. Proper signage and flagmen will be present. The intersection of Flint /Slater will remain open. Detour Routes will be posted. There are no planned parking interruptions. No work slated for the weekend.
