A man who just wanted to drive to work in a warm vehicle got a surprise on Feb. 16 after a man drove off with his truck.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department responded to the call of a stolen vehicle on Flintridge, after a 24-year-old man had gone outside to start his 2001 Chevrolet Silverado extended cab pickup truck for work, and left it running in the driveway.
The man said he went back inside so he could get his wife’s keys to start her vehicle, and when he came outside he saw a vehicle pull in next to his. He didn’t think much of it at first because he thought it was the babysitter being dropped off, but then he got suspicious.
The man said he saw a white male get out and get into his truck. He ran over and the other man backed the truck out of the driveway into a snowbank. The vehicle owner tried to get the door open, but the man drove off at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle that was left behind had a cat inside it, which was turned over to Animal Control.
