Thomas earns Eagle rank

Congratulations to Lake Orion High School sophomore, Joshua Thomas, 16. The Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held on Mother’s Day (May 13) and Thomas will be awarded the rank of Eagle Scout.
His project established the inner courtyard at Scripps Middle School with the help of donations from the PTA, Orion Stone Depot, Ace Hardware on Baldwin Road, Lake Orion Kmart, and Lake Orion Jacobsen’s. Students at the school now have a walkway, picnic tables, shrubs, and flowers.
Thomas began his career as a Tiger Cub at age six. He continued with Cub Scouts in the Gerald R. Ford Council. He then moved to the Clinton Valley Council and was a part of the Pine Tree Elementary Pack #289.
Thomas bridged to Boy Scouts at 11-years-old, moving into the Lake Orion Boy Scout Troop #186. He currently serves as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. Other offices he has held include Troop Librarian and Patrol Leader.
Thomas is also on the Marching Band Drumline and Track Team. He participates in the MS150, with the Minor Effort team, to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis. Joshua is an active member of his youth group at Oxford Free Methodist Church, attending Acquire the Fire’Battle Cry and playing percussion during worship time with the Praise Team on Sunday mornings.
His parents are Jeff and Melisa Minor of Lake Orion and Ray and Piper Thomas of Holland.
