The night of December 1 was definitely not a night to leave your purse in the car.
Three different residents in the neighborhood of Tanview and Spezia had their vehicles broken into and purses stolen overnight between Dec. 1 and 2.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff Department’s reports, the vehicles of 51-year-old Bonnie Gall, Bradford Jacobsen and 72-year-old Martha Wood were all vandalized.
The passenger side window of Gall’s Ford Taurus was smashed in and her black purse, containing her wallet, several credit cards and cash, was stolen. The same window had been broken out from Mr. Jacobsen’s Ford Explorer and his 17-year-old daughter’s purse had been stolen.
Elaine Wood awoke in the morning to discover that someone had broken the driver side window of her Buick Century and taken a purse from the back seat she used for her dog. The only item of value missing was the garage door opener attached to the purse.
The reports state that police searched the general area and were able to retrieve the purse belonging to Mr. Jacobsen’s daughter.
A nearby neighbor, Mr. Gene Hampton, notified authorities that he found two purses in his front yard that very same morning. The two purses were identified as those belonging to Gall and Wood.
All three purses were returned to the women and police have no suspects at this time.
