Goodrich – The school board will have a new look this summer.
Board trustees Gary Foltz and Jim Bertrand’s four-year terms will expire on June 30. Foltz, who has been on the board since 1996, will not seek re-election.
However, Bertrand will seek another four-year term and challenge two newcomers, community activist Mark Griffiths and Goodrich Chamber President Doug Tetmeyer, for one of the two seats open.
The school board election will be on May 6 at the same four polling locations used for the presidential primary election, said Atlas Township Clerk Tere Onica.
Board President Michael Tripp said he hopes the community will become educated about the candidates running for the two seats.
‘It is important for our residents to be proactive by making sure those running have the right perspectives and goals in mind. Getting involved only when there is a problem should not be the only time residents participate in school business,? said Tripp.
The Citizen will publish a voters? guide in late April.
