Dear Editor:
This being an election year, you are being exposed to a lot of information from the present supervisor that might not be factual. I am speaking as a supervisor that was ‘tossed out of office? 12 years ago because of the same type of misinformation.
I know the response to the public concerns 12 years ago about a 40-hours-a- week supervisor was more timely than the part-time supervisor that has been in office for the past eight years at $30,000 plus salary.
Twelve years ago the members of Arbor On the Lake would not have had to wait eight years to get an explanation of their sewer fees, or how the sewer fund is being administered. These questions were recently resolved through the efforts of Kautman-Jones and Jeff Wright, Drain Commissioner, with no help from township officials.
Increase in police protection by this administration was at the price of a special assessment amount that was placed on the township tax roll by the supervisor without a vote of the people.
With reference to maintaining the rural character of the community, if I remember correctly, it was only a few years ago the township residents voted no to the increase in lot sizes as proposed by the current supervisor.
Joint projects with adjacent townships are ongoing because Atlas Township has a hard time qualifying for Community Block Grant Development Funds and they are traded to other townships.
Has there been any approval of building sites by spot zoning in violation of ordinances just because it is cheaper to build there? Check out the new doctor’s office on State Road. Lowering home assessments is the work of the assessor, resulting from the housing and construction crisis happening throughout the country.
This list could go on for a number of pages but the bottom line is it’s time for a change.
