Time for tree

The Stachowiak family from Clarkston weaved through the trees at Rattalee Lake Tree Farm last Friday hunting for the perfect Christmas tree.
It was the opening day at the tree farm as families arrived, ready to begin decorating for the season.
Owner Mike Lorimer added it’s great to be part of a tradition.
A popular choice is their live trees, which can be replanted after it is used for Christmas.
“I have talked to families who have selected the live trees,” Lorimer said. “They can look out in the yard and say ‘see that one, it was this big when you were little.’ They connect that holiday’s experience with that tree.”
Erica Stachowiak added it is a family tradition to pick out a tree, finding just the right one.
The Scotch Pine is this year’s special at Rattalee Lake Tree Farm, Lorimer said, explaining any Scotch Pine is $40.
He also noted the Scotch Pine has been considered the classic Christmas tree in Michigan.
Their wide selection also includes White Pine, Douglas Fir, Canaan Fir and Black Hills Spruce.
Rattalee Lake Tree Farm is located at the corner of Rattalee Lake and Reese Roads and is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the weekends through Christmas. For more information, please call 248-620-2973. ~Staff Writer Wendi Reardon
