Tips sought in break-ins; reward offered

Brandon Twp.- Police are requesting the public’s assistance in solving three break-ins that occurred at a local business in the last month.
A reward is offered for information leading to an arrest of a suspect in the crimes, which occurred at the Boat Bar, 2000 S. Ortonville Road.
According to police reports, the first break-in was May 1, during which at least $3,200 was stolen. Access was gained through a west-facing glass sliding door and a 2×4 had to be removed from the inside of the building. The second break-in was May 10 when a door was forced open to gain entry to the building and a second door leading to an office was also forced open, with an undetermined amount of cash taken.
The most recent incident occurred June 5. According to police reports, a Brandon deputy responded to the Boat Bar at around 5:45 a.m. A back door had been pried open and a subject had unsuccessfully attempted to enter a safe at the business. The subject did pry open one of three lottery machines and took an unknown amount of cash.
Surveillance cameras at the bar showed the suspect to be a white male, about 6 feet tall, wearing a bandana and hooded sweatshirt, with a backpack and gloves.
Anyone with information regarding these break-ins is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP. Callers may remain anonymous. A reward is offered.
