Oxford’s own Tom’s Hardware is prominently featured in the Michigan Retail Hardware Association’s 2006 calender.
Black-and-white photos of the store then and now are featured on both the calender’s cover and for the month of September.
Shown is the store’s current location at 558 S. Lapeer Road along with its former downtown home on S. Washington Street.
The late Tommy P. Toteff opened his Oxford store in 1972 after purchasing the Tunstead Hardware building next door to Patterson’s Prescription Pharmacy (also shown in the calender photos.)
Within 18 months, Toteff outgrew the 100-plus-year-old hardware store and moved his operation south to the current location.
Today, his son Thomas S. Toteff proudly owns and operates the business.
