Nearly 15,000 of Orion Township’s 23,368 registered voters, or about 64 percent, turned out for the Nov. 7 General Election.
Among the big statewide races, the township differed from the rest of the state in both the Governor’s race and the race for U.S. Senate.
Dick DeVos got 8,651 votes, or 58 percent, in the township, compared to just under 6,000 or 40 percent for incumbent Jennifer Granholm, who won the seat.
Mike Bouchard received 56 percent of the township vote, compared to Debbie Stabenow’s 41 percent, but Stabenow claimed the race and a second six-year term.
Township voters overwhelmingly favored re-election for Teri Lynn Land as Secretary of State (70 percent of the vote) and Attorney General Mike Cox (68 percent).
