Brandon Twp.- The township, with tri-party funding, will spend $128,000 for gravel on local roads this year.
Supervisor Ron Lapp said the Road Commission for Oakland County has approved $128,000 for gravel work on township roads, of which Brandon officials will pay $42,688, with the road commission and county board of commissioners picking up the balance.
‘Tri-party funds allows us to maximize and leverage tax dollars to continue road graveling programs,? said Lapp.
On average, about five miles of road is gravelled per year in the township. This year, officials plan to gravel 6.96 miles of road, including 2.52 miles of Saw Mill Lake Road, from County Line Road to N. Hadley Road; 1.17 miles of Honert Road from State Park Road to County Line Road; 2.13 miles of State Park Road from the Groveland Township line to Oakwood Road; and 1.14 miles of Granger Road, location to be determined.
Work will begin as soon as possible, said Lapp, with 11,000 tons of 21AA gravel used.
