The Atlas Township board of trustees offered a preliminary bid to share services including sewer fee collection, tax collection, building inspection and code inspection for the Village of Goodrich at the board of trustees meeting on Monday night.
The presentation was prompted by Goodrich Village Council President Patricia Wartella who attended the township meeting on March 21. Wartella requested the board of trustees prepare the report in conjunction with a current study by Plante & Moran to evaluate all aspects of the community, including administration, DPW and services.
The proposal was presented by Township Treasurer Ann Marie Slagle and Township Building Official Matt Hart.
The preliminary proposal includes 639 village sewer bills and 995 tax bills at an estimated cost of $5,917.65.
In addition a proposal was also presented for code enforcement, the building department and administration from Hart, totaling $10, 560.
Township Supervisor Shirley Kautman-Jones said more information will be needed before a contract between the municipalities is signed.
‘We have to make sure it’s enough,? said Jones. ‘This amount seems rather low.?
The village and township currently share a contract with the Genesee County Sheriff Department and the Atlas Township Fire Department.
