Township property sale to be finalized early next year

Groveland Twp.- An agreement on a major township development may be signed early next year.
That’s the word from Township Supervisor Bob DePalma regarding about 197 acres of township property located north of Grange Hall Road, east of I-75 and west of Dixie Highway. A small section of the property is located on the southeast corner of Grange Hall and Worden roads.
In July, the township board considered three offers on property and accepted a bid for about $4 million. The deal also includes a $750,000 allowance to the township for the construction of a new firehouse. In addition, terms of the deal includes drinking water be brought to the site from the Detroit Water and Sewer Department and the development of a special assessment district for a wastewater plant. The development, named Stonehenge Pass, LLC, will be owned by area businessmen Barry Bass, Robert Gilling and Thomas Kenny.
Barry Bass of Bedrock Express, a township-based company with interests in the project, said expect a showcase development.
‘This would be a good deal for all parties,? said Bass. ‘The rough economy will not impact this deal, we are looking to the future and are very pleased with the township on moving this project forward.The main issue is to keep a landfill out of the township’and that’s going to happen. We will make this development a thing of beauty.?
No time line for the project was provided.
