A routine traffic stop Nov. 23 led to the arrest of two young men allegedly tied to the stealing goods from motor vehicles in multiple communities.
Daniel Zess, 19, of Grand Blanc Township, and Joshua Deluca, 17, of Independence Township, were each arraigned in Rochester Hills 52-3 District Court Nov. 24 on four counts of possession of a stolen financial device (credit cards).
Zess was also charged with possession of marijuana.
The two men were stopped last week by an Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputy near Seymour Lake and Baldwin roads for non-operational vehicle lights.
During the stop, the suspects were allegedly found to be in possession of stolen property, credit cards and a passport taken in recent larcenies from vehicles in Oxford, Orion, Waterford, Fenton and Rochester Hills.
According to the sheriff’s department, the subjects were interviewed and tied to the property thefts.
Bond was set at $10,000 cash/surety or 10 percent. The investigation is continuing with detectives from Rochester Hills and other jurisdictions.
Additional charges related to the stolen property may be forthcoming.
