Who cares about Black Friday?
The really great gifts will be found at the Orion Art Center’s Clay Studio beginning December 10.
Diamond Dave’s Creative Jewelry, 424 S. Lapeer, will host the event, which also houses the Art Center’s Clay Studio. Shoppers will find some creative and one-of-a-kind art works this holiday season to benefit the Orion Art Center.
The opening night for the 14th annual Holiday Market will be December 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be live guitar music, some appetizers and dozens of artists with their unique and beautiful works available.
The market will be open daily from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and is closed on Monday December 15.
According to Jacqui Ambler-Smith, the artists, who are typically local small business owners, come to the market to share and sell their unique creations. The works will include pottery, hand dyed silk scarves, photographs, jewelry, paintings, fused glass ornaments and many other creations.
‘It is a great way to support local artists while finding the perfect holiday gift,? she said.
The market helps support the non-profit Orion Art Center and allows it to offer the many services and programs that benefit Lake Orion, including the annual Dragon Boat Races.
Ambler-Smith and many others are part of the army of volunteers that help to make the Holiday Market and other Orion Art Center projects so successful. Ambler-Smith and Mary Brooks are the co-chairs for the Holiday Market.
‘We could not do this without all of the volunteers,? Ambler-Smith said.
