The township board voted unanimously on Monday night to increase parking fines in the township by $10.
Among the fines that will be effected are parking in front of a fire hydrant, parking in a posted fire lane, blocking a crosswalk, sidewalk, alley, roadway, drive, safety path or traffic, and parking over 48 hours.
The board increased all of the above fines from $30 to $40, based on a recommendation from Lieutenant Bruce Naile, who noted that fines have not increased since 1995.
The fine for parking in a handicap space is to remain at $100.
A first reading on the action was held on the issue was held in April after the board received input from the fire chief and their attorney.
