One of the most valuable assets in the world is water. U.S Waterway knows what it takes to keep this asset clean and safe for drinking. The business opened its doors locally in March 1999, but has been in the business for 20 years thanks to owner Steve Christiansen.
The company started out with no customers four years ago. Now they have more than 1,000 happy clients.
In the past year the company added a new water softener product called Hague. The company that distributes the product is the third largest manufacturer in the United States. It can filter iron and condition water all in one machine. It softens water with extremely high levels of iron because basic water softeners cannot handle it.
‘Very few companies have this machine,? said operations manager Brent Keller, who has been in the business eight years.
U.S Waterway feels their strengths lie in well water applications, arsenic removal, iron removal and the ability to take out the rotten smell that well water brings.
‘Other companies avoid the word arsenic because they cannot remove it. We can,? said Keller.
They service residential homes, businesses and schools. U.S Waterway services Goodrich schools and plan to incorporate their business in more schools. They have also serviced four post offices. They serve about 50 percent residential and 50 percent business.
‘Being a brand new business, you have to overcome certain obstacles. We had a financial hump to overcome. You don’t know if you’re going to make it and you’re living month to month. We feel fortunate because of the hard work we do in many communities, they want our business again and again.?
Keller said the majority of the clientele is based on referrals. In each community, water needs are different, so they examine the needs of each client.
They not only treat water problems, but they are a full service bottled water company. They also rent and sell water coolers. Many homes and businesses are investing in the idea that clean water from a trustworthy source is the better way.
Plans for the new year include the continuation of service to the area and the expansion of their clientele.
‘We all love the community and the people and we have become a household name in the area. We have been very successful and are not afraid to say how proud we are. We are here to stay.?
