Goodrich — Next month a local business will provide a whole new perspective of boarding, daycare and training for dogs.
“Ugly Dog,” the trademark grounded in the rugged character of the bearded and wirehaired hunting dogs, is set to open just south of Goodrich at Green Road and M-15. The 12,000 square-feet building, with a 7,000 square-feet play area will provide more than ample room for a comfortable, safe stay for all dogs.
“I have traveled across Michigan, Indiana and Ohio after I bought the property to find out what works best for my customers and myself,” said Fred Saber, owner. “I’ve seen nothing like this, from front to back the facility is the best and I’m proud of this.”
The state-of-the-art facility will be one of the largest in the state featuring amenities such as dog suites, a full grooming section and an attention to cleanliness.
“Dog health issues, such as Kennel cough and and other diseases will be prevented by continual clean air along,” he said. “We’ll also strive to keep mud out and the dogs clean during their stay.”
The kennels are constructed with masonry blocks covered with an antimicrobial paint to protect from harmful disease-causing microbes. Each dog will have an individual cot and blanket to provide a home-like feeling. The heating, ventilation and cooling will cycle four-times per hour with fresh air every 15 minutes.
Other unique features will be a double-fenced area for nature hikes and training available on several acres around the building, a rubber floor training area to prevent dogs skidding around and washable Astro-turf in play areas that can be cleaned with regularity to further prevent the spread of disease.
“Come check us out next month,” said Saber. “Stop by and visit our fire-lit waiting room along with many other features for dogs and owners.”
I have been watching the construction of this facility since it started. Looks like it will be a fantastic place to leave your dog that will be next best to their own home. Can’t wait to tour Ugly Dog.
Is there a phone number . I am interested in working there.
