Goodrich – Remembering soldiers in Iraq for Valentine’s Day has been a way for these students to express their love and gratitude.
Eighth grade American History classes at Goodrich Middle School made valentines to send the soldiers.
Their teacher, Krista Bethke said, ‘I am sending each of my six classes? valentines to six different troops in Iraq, using the anysoldier.com website for the addresses which I’ve been using all year, because it is safe.?
She said the students wanted to send valentines because it is an American holiday that they were hoping the soldiers could still celebrate even though they are away from their loved ones.
Bethke said most of the valentines said ‘stay safe,? ‘we believe in you,? ‘you are my hero? and ‘thank you for serving our country.?
A valentine by Madison Tiedeman was the teacher’s personal favorite. It said, ‘Valentine’s Day is a day for love and care, for hope and joy, and happiness and family. You may not be here to share this day with people you love, but always remember people love you. Thank you for helping our country during hard times and during these special days. Have a great Valentine’s Day!?
Taryn Drumm said the project was really meaningful for her. ‘It shows that we really care and that we won’t forget about them.?
