Varsity golf hits losing streak

On Sept. 16, the Oxford High School golf team last a very close match with Holly by only two shots. The final score was 160-171.
‘We are improving, but unfortunately we are not playing as well as we’d like,? said Head Coach Don Lovell. ‘As soon as we get over this little bump on the road we are going to do a lot better.?
Jake Crowell, Jerred Pender, Don Crosson and Chad Brown all had good days. Crowell had the best score with 41 strokes followed closely by Pender and Crosson, each with 43, and then Brown with 44.
The team had another close one on Monday when the Wildcats were defeated by Brandon 175-173. Again the top player was Crowell with 42 points; however, this time he was tied by teammate Crosson. Brown came in with 45 strokes.
The team ended the match 0-4 in the league.
‘I can’t wait until next week. We are going to do great, especially at the Mustang Invitational,? said senior Chad Brown.
The Wildcats are hopeful to get some huge wins against Cranbrook on Sept. 22 and again on Sept. 23 against Lapeer East at home. Coach Lovell said the boys are ‘working hard? for their upcoming competitions.
Germ’n, 18, is a senior at Oxford High School. He is team captain for Cross Country and Track, and a staff member of the OHS yearbook. He plans to attend college where he will study either physical therapy or sports medicine, and continue his distance running.
