On May 19 the Lake Orion High School varsity softball team defeated North Farmington 10-0 and 3-2 to sweep the doubleheader.
In the first game, Bristel Brumitt had a bases-loaded double to start the Dragon scoring.
Kelsey Stout had three hits for the team, and Robin Roe tossed a two-hitter for the win. In the nightcap, the Dragons scored in the eighth inning to pull out the victory.
Amber Agro drove the ball through the infield to drive home Lauren LaPine with the winning run.
Brumitt was the winning pitcher, allowing five hits while striking out seven.
On May 22, Lake Orion traveled to Troy Athens for an eight-team tournament.
The Dragons opened with Utica Eisenhower, defeating that team 9-5 behind the pitching of Roe.
Nichole Woityra had three hits in leading the offense.
Kristen Larsen had two triples and was 2-for-4 in her first game, hitting after returning from breaking her leg in the volleyball districts.
The team went on to defeat Southfield Christian 12-2, behind the pitching of Brumitt. Larsen hit a two-run homerun to get the offense started.
The Dragons met Athens in the finals, and the first four hitters scored in the first inning to set the pace for a 10-4 Lake Orion victory.
LaPine, Brumitt, Stout, Woityra, Larsen and Eileen Frezza were named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Dragons are now 24-4. They are second in OAA I with a 13-2 record in the league.
