Oxford High School senior Amy Verbeke was recently named the Class of 2005 Daughter of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizen.
Daughter of Gary and Peggy, Verbeke was among five ‘exemplary? seniors nominated for the award by high school counselors. The OHS faculty then voted to determine the winner.
The student selected as Oxford’s DAR Good Citizen must be a senior and exhibit the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.
Verbeke has displayed her DAR Good Citizen qualities as drum major for the marching band, drama club secretary and community volunteer.
She has been the student director of two plays and has acted on stage throughout high school.
She is also a memebr of the National Honor Society and Math club.
Verbeke ranks 14 in her class with a GPA of 3.95 and plans to attend Oakland University. She has been honored for her excellence in Science and Mathematics and she plans to seek out a career in those areas.
