Veterans serving veterans

On Saturday, Aug. 17, the Veterans Ministry of Christ the King Churchin Oxford hosted a BBQ & picnic honoring area veterans and invited more 120 homeless veterans from various Detroit-area shelters.
Veterans were bused-in from the VA Medical Center and Domiciliary – Detroit, Michigan. Veterans Foundation – Detroit Veterans Center and Southwest Solutions Piquette Square in Detroit.
‘A great day was had by all,? said CTK Veterans Ministry Leader Bob ten Bosch.
Veterans and guests were greeted by U.S. Army Major Caryn Finch-Collier, and her volunteer staff along with members of the Veterans, REACH, and HIM Ministries of CTK. Chaplain Randy Puff, CTK-HIM Leader (Hogs-in-Ministry) and a veteran opened the program with prayer and blessing to all veterans, home, abroad, and to those whom paid the ultimate sacrifice.
‘The veterans also enjoyed the plentiful food,? Ten Bosh said. ‘We enjoyed a hog roast, burgers, brats, dogs, and a huge selection of home-made side dishes and desserts.? Entertainment was provided by D.J. Gregg, ‘Brittany Adams and Highway 23? and ‘The Robin Moore Band.? All beverages were donated from Flint Coca Cola Bottling, vehicles for transporting several of the homeless veterans were provided by Golling GMC-Buick and Faith River Church.
