Fewer than 10 percent of all VFW Posts are named an All-State Post and North Oakland VFW Post 334 has achieved that recognition for the fifth year in a row.
Post 334 was recognized as an All-State Post again for the fiscal year 2014-2015 at the recently held State Convention, according to Post Commander James Hubbard.
Hubbard was named to the All-State Commanders team and received a white cap, which was presented to Hubbard by William A. Thein the National Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The Post received $50,443.50 in donations for Buddy Poppies during the fundraising campaign in early May, more than any other VFW Post in Michigan. James Hubbard personally collected $4,550.00 in donations for Buddy Poppies making him the top fundraiser in the state and received a Recognition Award at the VFW State Convention. Hubbard will also be serving as the Post Commander for the 2015-2016 fiscal year of VFW Post 334.
Post 334 received additional awards and recognitions including the VFW Michigan Department’s award for its Americanism/Loyalty and Youth Programs.
Additional recognitions included certificates for support of Cancer Research, Hospital Program, Community Service, Gold Star and Blue Star Mother’s Program as well as for the Post’s youth activities participation which included the Boy Scouts and Young Marines.
