Victory on the lanes

Wolves have claimed the OAA Red division title.
The Clarkston Boys Varsity and JV bowling teams defeated Oxford on Feb. 8 at Cherry Hill North to take the titles.
The varsity team had an almost perfect game, scoring 28 points out of the possible 30 points.
Tyler Hancsak led the way with a 441 set with games 221 and 220. Chris Gemborys was right behind him with games of 234 and 203 for a 437 set. Brian Billups had the high game for the day with a 243 game.
For the JV team it came down to the final game to decide the winner. They prevailed scoring 18 to Oxford’s 12. Evan Farough had the high game with 201.
The Lady Wolves had to sweep their to beat Oxford. They did it scoring 19 points to the Lady Wildcats’ 11.
The first game was led by Erika Nowak with a 253 game followed by Stephanie Lavely with a 232 game.
They finished fifth out of the top eight teams at the Swami Team Challenge, Feb. 4.
Gina Setter had the high set with 634 from her games of 197, 193 and 244. She finished as a medalist with her sixth place overall performance for her second high game set of 441.
In qualifying Nowak had games of 213, 191 and a 184 for a set of 588.
The varsity boys team finished in ninth place out of 16. All five averaged over 200 for qualifying. The high game was Gemborys with a 671 series. Hancsak had a 607 series; Billups had a 621 series; Max Wolfgang had a 625 series; and Kyle Kirby had a 643 series.
The JV team boys team did well for their first tournament of the year, finishing fifth in the top eight.
Brock Nowak had a series of 555. High on the team went to Anthony Hernandez with games of 192, 186 and a 233 game for a series of 611. He also received a medal for his tenth place overall finish.
The teams head to the OAA meet on Saturday before they prepare for MHSAA Regionals next week.
