Ortonville- Rejuvenating a long summer tradition, several hundred customers along with 16 vendors packed the village for the first weekend of the new Country Market on May 7.
‘We’re very pleased with the opening week,? said Linda Byorth Detrio, Country Market co-chairperson, ‘and we’re confident the market will continue to grow in the next weeks. It was a positive response, people were happy to see the activities in the village.?
On May 21 a Flea Market is scheduled for the market.
Each week various vendors gather downtown to sell their wares, such as fresh produce, flowers, plant, art and antiques. The event is each Saturday from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. through September and will take place at the corner of Mill and Pond streets, in the village parking lot next to Mabelena and across from Papa Bella’s.
This year Byorth Detrio plans to have many family-oriented activities, including crafts, giveaways, and ‘stuff for the kids.?
Vendors can rent a space for $10 per week. Non- profit groups can have space for free. Byorth Detrio hopes to have a variety of artisans and entertainment. Refreshments such as lemonade and baked goods will be available.
