Ortonville — During the regular meeting on Monday night, the Ortonville Village Council voted unanimously to create two short-term subcommittees.
“The two subcommittees are both minimal, in that they’re probably 3-6 months maximum,” said Village Manager Matt Ryan.
The first subcommittee will be the Interlocal Agreement subcommittee, consisiting of trustees Melanie Nivelt, Tony Randazzo and Linda Brooks. The main focus of the subcommittee will be creating an interlocal agreement between Brandon Township and the Village of Ortonville. The agreement has been sought by the village council for a few years, as the township uses village property and facilities for some recreation programs.
The second subcommittee for financial oversight will consist of trustees Larry Hayden, Kay Green and Alex Faulker. The village staff has been working to over-haul the financial reports and budgeting within the village for better efficiency, which will be the main focus of the subcommittee.
“It helps me significantly,” said Ryan. “It allows me to operate transparently and to get input in different ideas.”
The forming of the subcommittees will allow those committees to take minutes and report back to the council for updates.
