The Lake Orion High School varsity volleyball team is in a tie with Rochester for first place in OAA I after several wins, both at home and on the road.
The team won two games against Waterford Mott, 15-8 and 15-9, on Feb. 5 at LOHS. According to head coach Mike Hatch, the Dragons were led in that game by the serving of Nichole Woityra (13-for-13 serving, nine points and seven digs) and Aubrey Dyl, who was 11-for-12 serving with 11 points.
The spiking of Lindsay Randazzo (15 spikes, five kills) and Kristen Larsen also contributed to the victory.
On Feb. 7 the team won their pool at the Vassar Invitational, eventually losing to Birch Run in the semi-finals. Hatch said they lost to a tough team.
‘We were led again by the serving of Woityra, and the hitting of Randazzo and Larsen,? he said.

The Dragons raised their league record to 8-2, and an overall record of 16-14-5. The team was led by the serving of Melissa Marriott, Hilary Conklin and Stephanie Keteyian against North Farmington.
