Walking for a Cystic Fibrosis cure

Timothy Herbert Financial Group is proud to announce their fourth annual partnership with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation GREAT STRIDES Walk, where the group will walk in honor of a special young girl. The walk will take place Saturday, May 19th, 2012 at the Municipal Park in downtown Rochester at 10 a.m.
Finding a cure for this disease is a cause close to the heart of Clarkston resident Tim Herbert, founder of Timothy Herbert Financial Group. Kate, the daughter of one of Tim’s long-time clients and close friends, was tragically diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF) at birth. After seeing the debilitating effects this disease had on Kate and her family, Mr. Herbert knew he had to join the fight to find a cure. For the past four years, the Timothy Herbert Financial team has sponsored and participated in the walk to raise funds for this amazing cause and help give children, just like six-year old Kate, the chance for a long and healthy life.
Fifty years ago, most children that were diagnosed with CF were lucky if they lived to attend elementary school. Today, the median age of survival is 37 years old. Mr. Herbert is grateful that Kate has a chance for a longer survival, but he doesn’t consider the job complete until a cure has been found. ‘As a sponsor, it’s good to know that the majority of the money donated goes toward the research of the disease,? says Herbert.
GREAT STRIDES is the largest CF fund-raiser in the country and raises critical funds for life-saving research, education and care programs for cystic fibrosis, a fatal genetic disease. The CF Foundation has been recognized as one of the most efficient charities in the country. Nearly 90 cents on the dollar raised by the CF Foundation is available to fund CF research and care programs.
