Watch out for ‘HOTS?

On Monday, June 30, the Addison Township Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire at 385 Baywood. Firefighters arrived in five minutes to find an attached garage heavily involved in fire threatening the house and other outdoor structures in the yard.
The fire was brought under control within 13 minutes with no fire damage to the house; there were no civilian or fire department injuries.
The fire has been determined to be accidentally caused by the careless disposal of smoking material. The fire caused approximately $60-$70,000 in damage. Addison firefighters were assisted by the Orion and Oxford fire departments.
Chief George Spencer would like to remind everyone to dispose of smoking material or any other type of ‘HOTS? such as coals, ashes from a fire place or anything that has been exposed to fire within 24 hours in a metal or nonflammable container and leave it outside and away from any structure.
For any questions, please contact Chief Spencer at 248-628-5600.
