Webcast of funeral services at Coats

Ortonville- When a loved one dies, there are sometimes family or friends who are not able to attend the funeral or memorial service.
Perhaps they live far away or are too frail to travel. Whatever the reason, there is now an option for the bereaved who can’t attend a funeral or memorial service arranged by Coats Village Funeral Home.
Coats is offering free, optional webcasts of funerals and memorials within 24 hours of the actual service, allowing family and friends who cannot be there to view the service anytime and anywhere in the world, over the internet.
‘We’ve already had a family utilize webcasting for a member of the military and another hospitalized family member,? said Roy Langolf, managing director of Coats Village Funeral Home. ‘The response was very positive because the technology allowed two family members to be inovlved in their loved one’s service and share these memories with the extended family.?
The service is optional. For families who wish to have a dvd or webcast of the service, a camera will be set up on a tripod in an unobtrusive location, at the rear of the funeral home or church for example, with the family deciding upon how much of the service will be recorded.
‘It’s not for everyone, but it’s a good option for families who have members that aren’t able to attend the service,? Langolf said.
Recorded services will be available to view for 90 days, with family and friends simply logging onto www.coatsfuneralhome.com and clicking on to their loved one’s obituary.
