What’s on tap?

The Lake Orion School Board released a proposed budget reduction plan for the 2007-2008 school year on Wednesday.
The plan trims from various budget areas, including athletics, central enrollment and items district-wide.
With the proposed plan, some jobs will be combined or absorbed by other departments, causing for an elimination of ten full-time and six part-time jobs.
The plan, if adopted, could cut over $1.7 million from the budget.
School board officials want the community to know that this plan is just proposed at this point; no cuts have been officially adopted.

Here’s what we’re working on for this week…
Friday’s ‘threat? at the high school had parents and students across Lake Orion on edge.
But all involved are breathing a sigh of relief after a quick-acting investigation revealed the threat was false.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department said a 15-year-old student was behind the threat and Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Ken Gutman said such threats will “not be tolerated” and will be dealt with “in as stern a matter as possible.”

After the rough day in school, a victory by the LOHS basketball team and a school dance lifted Dragon spirit right back up.
On ‘senior night,? three-year varsity player Joe Barnes hit the winning basket for Lake Orion as they topped Southfield 56-54.
‘I just got hot at the right time, I guess,? Barnes said. ‘My teammates were finding me and it just felt great to step up.?
The win assures the Dragons first place in the OAA II. Get a full recap in this week’s Lake Orion Review.
