What’s your opinion on widening Sashabaw Road?

Area residents will get a chance to voice their opinions on the widening of Sashabaw Road at two public hearings.
The first meeting is scheduled for March 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Independence Township Library. A date for the second public hearing has not been set yet.
The long-awaited project would expand Sashabaw Road into a four lane boulevard and allow more retail build-up in the area. The $11 million project will be able to be partially funded by federal and state grants, however property owners in the area will need to pay special assessments. The township is also planning on making a contribution to the project.
