The Wildcat swimmers took on OAA Blue Division competitor Avondale at their season home opener and took down the Avondale Yellow Jackets in commanding fashion with a 120-52 win.
In the 200 Medley Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of Sereno, Grove, Warren, and Terry took first with a time of 1:50.43. Oxford’s C Relay of Olheiser, Acton, Scribner, and Butler finished in third place. 200 Freestyle: Senior Armando Vega placed first with a time of 2:03.60. Travis Butler and Michael Scepka took fourth and fifth place respectively. 200 Individual Medley: Sophomore Garrett Warren finished first with a time of 2:14.93. Jonah Grove and Bradlee Weltyk came in second and third place for Oxford.
In the 50 Freestyle: Senior Captain Sean Terry placed first with a time of 23.04. Zack Acton and Lucas Sereno placed third and fourth respectively. Diving: Sophomore Mitchell Mulligan took first place with a score of 131.90. 100 Butterfly: Sophomore Garrett Warren finished first with a time of 1:00.31. Junior Bradlee Weltyk came in second place. 100 Freestyle: Sophomore Brandon Powers placed second for Oxford with a time of 55.38. Mario Scribner finished in fourth place.
500 Freestyle: Senior Armando Vega came in first with a time of 5:48.24. Zack Acton took second place and Lucas Sereno finished in fourth place for the Wildcats. 200 Freestyle Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of Scepka, Grove, Weltyk and Scribner placed first with a time of 1:40.58. Oxford’s B Relay of Saxon, Butler, Mulligan, and AdamCzyk finished in second place. 100 Backstroke: Junior Tanner Saxon took first place with a time of 1:12.80. Freshman Alex Olheiser finished second. 100 Breaststroke: Junior Captain Jonah Grove placed second with a time of 1:13.45. Michael Scepka and Travis Butler finished in third and fourth place respectively. 400 Freestyle Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of Terry, Powers, Warren, and Vega finished first with a time of 3:44.21. Oxford’s B Relay of Sereno, Saxon, Weltyk, and Acton took second place.
Avondale is now 1 – 1 and Oxford is 2 – 0 on the season. The boys will face OAA White Division Royal Oak High School in a cross-over dual on Tuesday, January 5. The meet will be held at Royal Oak Middle School at 6 p.m.
