The two-day ‘Women in the Wilderness? Winter Expedition is planned for January 21 & 22 at Independence Oaks on Sashabaw Road in Clarkston. The program introduces participants to winter recreation and teaches basic winter survival, sport and camping skills. Clinics include gearing up for winter, quinzee hut building, winter mountain biking, winter hiking, ice fishing, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, geocaching, outdoor survival and winter camping. Jan. 21 night accommodations include tent camping, quinzee hut camping or a rustic fire-heated lodge. Expedition is held indoors and outdoors, so dress appropriately. The cost is $65 per person including all meals, instruction, clinic materials and equipment. Participants must be 18 years or older.
