Yee-haw! Carpenter hosts intersession

The Wild, Wild West invaded Carpenter last month during the school’s intersession.
It was a bunch of ‘yee haws? as the students learned all about the simple, yet difficult, life of cowboys, pioneers and Native Americans.
Students learned how to make biscuits, shook cream to make butter, and learned how to make toys like cornhusk dolls and moonwinders.
Since there was no electricity in this time period, they also learned how to make their own candles.
The students also traveled to Oak Pointe Stables, in Oxford, to learn the most important lesson of all – how valuable a horse was to everyone who owned them. At the stables, students learned how to groom horses, as well as how to ride a horse.
The week concluded with Native American dancers who taught everyone about ‘Mother Earth? and ceremonial dances.
