Ethan Young a 2018 Goodrich High School graduate was recently named to the Division II All State Baseball Team by the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association. The 6-3, 200 pound right handed pitcher recorded 98 strikeouts and 21 walks over 56 innings. He posted a ERA of 1.3 and a 9-2 record.
“I was throwing my fast ball at 77 mph during my junior season,” said Young. “I worked over last summer at First Class Athletics and moved that up to 89 mph this season.”
Bob Foreback, Martian varsity baseball coach responded to the all state announcement.
“The Young’s are one of the hardest working families I know,” said Foreback. “Ethan deserves every award he received this year because he spends a tremendous amount of time working to become a better player. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him. We were a very good team when he was on the mound.”
Young will pitch for Jackson Community College in the fall where he will also study nursing. He is the son of Robert Young and Nikki Young of Atlas Township.
