On Sept. 16, Lakeville Elementary had a half-day of school so Andrew and Aaron Schlader went fishing with their dad Joel. The trio had been fishing in a local Oxford lake for about an hour and a half when they hooked and landed a 31-inch, 16-pound flathead catfish with a jig and a minnow in 19 feet of water.
The three Schladers took turns fighting to get the catch in, until after almost 20 minutes 11-year-old Andrew got the honor of reeling in the prize for dad Joel to net. The family took the catfish to Hook, Line and Sinker bait shop in Lake Orion where they got the official weight and length. Pictured with the “catch of the day” are Aaron, 7, and Andrew.
