13U Dragons are champions in Southgate

The 13U Lake Orion Dragons travel baseball team finished in first place at the GLTB Heritage/Memorial Day Invitational on May 28-29.
The Dragons had three come-from-behind victories in the tournament. The team’s first win was 9-5 over the Huntington Woods Cats.
Aidan Murdock pitched six strong innings, striking out six batters to earn the win. Ryan Bird pitched the final inning, striking out the side to earn the save over the Cats.
The Dragons beat the Avon Lake Shoremen from Ohio, 7-4, to earn the number 1 seed. JD Horecki pitched the first four innings, striking out five batters to earn the win.
Josh Stocchi only allowed one hit over the last three innings to earn the save over the Shoremen. Murdock hit a solo homerun over the 250-foot fence.
The Dragons faced the Avon Lake Shoremen in the championship, winning an exciting game, 7-6. Casey Burke, Murdock, Devon Wiegers and Ryan Pitt pitched well, with Wiegers getting the win and Pitt earning the save.
The Dragons were down two runs going into the last inning, and rallied for four runs. Matt Musary had a clutch, two-out single with the bases loaded, driving in two runs to give the Dragons a 7-5 lead.
Pitt retired the last three batters in the bottom of the 7th, including striking out the last batter with runners on second and third.
Stocchi had a team-high seven hits and two RBIs. Burke reached base nine out of 11 times, with six hits, three walks and three runs scored. Alex Yee was 6-for-9, with three runs scored.
Musary had five hits, three walks and a team-high seven RBIs.
Robert Gillham had five hits and five runs scored, while Alex Seinar had two hits, two walks and four scored runs. Wiegers had three hits and three runs scored.
Also for the team, Murdock had three hits and three RBIs, Chris DeLuca and Horecki had two hits each and three RBIs, and Bird and Pitt had one hit each in limited play.
The Dragons are currently in first place in their NOBF division with a 9-2 record. They have qualified for the USSSA, BPA and the Super Series World Series.
