The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of a stolen necklace at the Best Western on Lapeer Road on Oct. 1.
According to an OCSD report, a woman who was staying at the hotel with her family while visiting from Tennessee said she left the room and returned to find her $3,000 necklace was missing.
The woman said she left the necklace laid out on an ironing board, and had put a do not disturb sign on the door.
She said the room had not been cleaned, although the drapes were open, and she said when she had left, the drapes had been closed.
There were no signs of forced entry into the room.
The manager told the OCSD that only three employees working that day had access to all the rooms.
