Five years have passed and the time has come again for Independence Township officials to review and update the master plan.
Under the recommendation of township planner Richard Carlisle, with Carlisle/Wortman Associates, Inc., the township board approved unanimously to allot $30,000 for the process.
Carlisle estimated the cost of the process at $28,580, but suggested the board approve $30,000 ‘as a precaution.?
‘We will make every effort to stay below the budgeted amount,? wrote Carlisle in his recommendation. ‘However, experience tells me that unexpected issues arise during the process which can affect the budget. We will keep a close watch and keep you informed.?
The township is required by law to review and update the master plan every five years. With an influx of development currently happening, several board members voiced approval of handling the process now.
