Fresh off their league leading record (15-1) and overall Top Defense award in the Michigan Youth Flag Football Flight Zone League, the Oxford Wildcats 8U Flag Football Team ran the table’at the 2014 Midwest Regional Flag Football Championships in Walled Lakefor the second straight year ? securing back-to-back Regional Titles.
The Wildcat team competed in the 8U Open Division with 16 other teams from all over the Midwest Region.? Led by their shut down defense, they rolled with’six straight wins to take the championship over Oak Harbor Rockets from Ohio, only’allowing an impressive 13 points against over the’six games.
Impressively the offense overpowered the opposition with speed on the ground and pinpoint accuracy through the air, putting up an impressive 109 points over six games.
‘It was an all around team effort. This’team played their hearts out through some tough weather conditions over two days,? said Coach John Bauman? These boys, who are all from the same school in Oxford (Oxford Elementary School), exemplify teamwork, never give up spirit and sportsmanship. Could not be prouder of this group of boys.?
